I did a post several weeks ago with the intention of posting 'this' post but changed my mind.

I want to urge you, especially my 'Vietnam vet' brothers, if not already doing so--to get in the habit of having a physical 'twice' a year. I do and it is possible what saved me (I'm not out of the woods yet).

I will not go into details because it would take too long but in essense I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (bone marrow cancer...there's no cure but treatable) 2 years ago this month at the VA. It was detected very, very early avoiding me from chemo and radiation--I do have a 2-hr Infusion (i.v.) once a month.

This Multiple Myeloma is on the Presumptive Agent Orange List. Yes, the VA is compensating me (I was already rated 100% SC) with 'special' compensation but would rather be healthy instead of the money of course.

Again, it was me having my physical twice a year, to include blood tests, over the years is why it was detected. I'm not out of the woods but it could have been a much, much worse situation!!

AGAIN, I URGE YOU TO GET ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE AND HAVE A PHYSICAL TWICE A YEAR!!!

WELCOME HOME!!!!!!!

On this 11th day ( 11th Air Assault ) of the 11th month (11th Av / G.S. ) I will remember them...

Though this day was initially created to remember the fallen from WWI ( as the guns supposedly went silent at 11am on this date in 1918, they did not )

Just the same, I WLL remember the water truck driver, a survivor of the Ia Drang ( 2/7th ) who still had that ' look ' I will never forget. He never spoke, but he delivered, and he did it well. Most later-assigned Sky-Troopers to An Khe thought he was on drugs.
Little did they know, post that long-ago November,1965

OR the un-sung hero at Camp Radcliff at An Khe, the guys that kept those fixed and rotary -wing aircraft operationally ready for whatever mission(s) tomorrow might bring.

Living in tents, flimsy wooden ' hooches ' these people were just at risk of being wounded, or KIA due to mortar ( later, rocket ) attacks on their quarters without the luxury of shooting back at our enemy.

ANYBODY who was there with the First Air Cav ( 1965-1968) knows exactly why I remained silent, with head bowed, asking my higher power to bless each and everyone Of our First Air Cav brothers...
